Over the course of the Autumn Term, we are studying the Second World War - including the impact on the local community. We'll investigate some of the key events of the war (D-Day, the Blitz etc.) as well as how it affected children (as evacuees) and their families (through rationing). We have chosen to open the year with this WWII topic as Bude will be celebrating the link it had with the American troops during the war over the weekend of the 14th - 16th September 2017 ('Bude at War').
What else will we be doing? In our science sessions, we will be investigating electrical circuits - how to put them together, how to fix them and how to draw them accurately using symbols. During PE, as well as swimming every Monday, we will be building on our hockey skills from year 5. On top of all that, art this term is all about using shading (with pencils and charcoal) to create effective work.
We have kept the photos from year 5 on the page, but we will be updating the site with pictures from activities and events throughout year 6, too!
For maths, please help your child practise their times tables - which are a crucial underpinning skill in mental maths. We have found a range of apps that support learning tables and are positively reviewed. They are all either free or very cheap.
