Year 4/5 - Ash

Weekly update

Friday, March 15th, 2019.

We have completed writing our legend texts. This will now feed into our future English work about persuasive writing. The children can look forward to lots of drama opportunities this week.

Our maths has focused on area, volume and capacity ( for Y5).

Thank you to those families who have returned their visit slips - please could we have any remaining slips back by Monday.

Key dates:

Forest School: Elm Class have Forest School on Wednesday afternoon. Ash Class and Birch Class have their session on Thursday afternoon. Please make sure children have a complete change of clothes and suitable footwear.

HOMEWORK

If you don't have access to the internet, your child can complete homework in school. Please let us know, as Friday is too late to inform us. Homework club is every Friday - next week will be with Miss Barriball.

Spelling homework:

Children have been learning a range of words ending with the 'shun' sound (it is never spelled 'shun'!).

Use these words: corrosion, possession, attention, magician, confusion, passion, direction, session, percussion and fraction.

'Quickwrite' activity - pupils try to write out as many words as they can in two minutes from the word list. They then try to beat this score (words must be correct!).

Reading:

Children should try and read 4-5 times a week at home and record this in their reading record. Remember to put next to any reading completed at home. Thank you.

Maths:

Your child has a times table target that is recorded in their purple book. One or all of their tests for homework should reflect this target.

Please complete online multiplication tables test at http://www.timestables.me.uk/index.htm .

Children can choose the tables to test - please choose 40 questions. Do this twice over the week and record scores into purple homework books.
