Welcome to Year 5!

Literacy in Forest School

The Lobster Hatchery came to visit...

Instead of a small Christmas gift for themselves, class 5.1 decided to send 2 scooters to Cornwall Refuge Trust in order to provide a gift for children who are less fortunate than themselves.

We have received the following letter of thanks:

Homework in Year 5 is set every Friday and is expected to be completed and returned the following Friday. Children will receive a spellings sheet relevant to the spelling rule we have learnt that week. They will also receive a mental maths sheet which helps guide us as to where the children are in their learning.

In addition to these, children are working their way up the "Times Table Ladder". They are all aware of which tables they are to practice at home.

If you have any problems with these, please come and speak to one of the Year 5 team.

This week in maths, we have been learning about equivalent fractions and improper and mixed number fractions. See our working wall here -

There will be no forest school for yr 5 during the Spring term.

PE will be on a Monday and Thursday afternoon. Children must have appropriate PE kit in school all week. They will not be allowed to take part in PE if they have the incorrect kit.

W/C: 21st November 2016

This week in maths, we have been learning how to use short division.

Take a look at our working wall:

All children should learning their times tables at home. This has a huge impact on all of their maths learning. Please find below information that you might find useful whilst helping your child to learn their tables.
