Week beg 7th March – parents meetings – appointments to follow soon.

Dear Parents/Carers,

  • Please listen to your child read 5 times a week, (see yellow log).
  • Help your child learn 3 spellings. Please fit as much as you can on one page to save paper. (see purple log).
  • Give your child the opportunity to play on NumBots 3 times a week (logins are stuck in yellow log). More information below.

Trip to The Eden Project

Year 1 had a wonderful first school trip to the Eden Project. They completed a workshop in which they learnt about the Amazon rainforest. We were set a challenge to learn more about the rainforest environment so that we could tell Ken and Barbie all about it before they go off on their travels. We walked through the rainforest biome, looking carefully at some different types of shelters, and then returned to the Eden classroom to build rainforest shelters for Ken and Barbie, using a range of materials.

The children all enjoyed their day and were very well behaved!

Thank you for your cooperation with arriving early and collecting later, and for waiting so patiently for us to ensure everyone was off the coach and safely handed over to the right adult.

We will share photos from the day on our webpage ASAP for you to look through at home.

Bring a book from home

Each week we will ask a child from each class to bring in their favourite book from home to share with the class. We will inform you through our newsletter which child’s turn it is to bring in their book for the following week.

24th January:

  • Lily from Pine please bring your favourite book to school.
  • Jane from Maple please bring your favourite book to school.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 1 Team
