Year 1 Weekly Update – Thursday 23rd June
Dates: INSET DAY – Friday 24th and Monday 27th June
KS1 Sports Day – Monday 4th July AM
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have had a busy and very hot week!
It was lovely to see so many visitors during our open day today, and we enjoyed the official opening ceremony for the new classrooms. Year 1 were particularly interested to have a tour of the new building earlier this week, knowing that this is where their Year 2 classroom will be.
Homework
Give your child the opportunity to play on NumBots 3 times a week (logins are stuck in yellow log). More information below.
Sun Cream
Thank you for applying sun cream to your child before school, and sending them with a sun hat to wear outside. Please continue to make sure that your child will be safe in the sun at school.
Maths
In maths we have been learning about directions. The children have been learning about quarter turns, half turns, three-quarter turns and whole turns. We have also been learning to describe the position of objects using the vocabulary left, right, above, below, forwards, backwards.
Jubilee Books
The Jubilee book that each child bought home last week are for you to keep. These can now be taken out of book bags and kept at home please.
Library Trip
We are planning a visit to Bude library on Friday 8th July in the afternoon, after lunch. We will send a separate letter with more details soon, but wanted to give you advanced notice that children will need to be collected from Bude (near the library – meeting place to be confirmed) at 2:30pm on this day.
We will need some adult volunteers to walk with us, so please let us know if you are available to help from 12:15 – 2:30. Thank you.
Bring a book from home
Everyone is Year 1 has now had the opportunity to bring in a book from home to share with the class at story time. We have really enjoyed seeing the children’s favourite books.
If your child forgot to bring their book, or was absent, when it was their turn then they may still bring it in.
Thank you,
The Year 1 Team
Isolation home learning - Day 1
Here are some activities for your child to complete on their first day of isolation.
Please only do this with your child if they are well enough to do so. If your child needs to isolate for longer then we will be in touch with further learning activities to complete at home.
The learning for the isolation days following Day 1 will be found on Google Classroom. The login details for Google Classroom are found below. Thank you!
