Work for day 1 of Lockdown January 2021.
This work is for the first day of absence. Please ensure this is completed. Your child's class teacher will be in contact about further work.
Hawthorn, Juniper and Ash Weekly Update – Friday 18th December
We are now all using google classroom for remote learning. We are practising in classes and now need everyone to check they can log on. This can be accessed on ANY device as it is via the internet.
IMPORTANT - The account we are using is separate from ANY home google accounts. You will need to ‘add an account’ on your home login page and put in your child’s login. They will then see their classroom they belong to in school.
IMPORTANT – the stream (the first option at the top of the screen) is for education messages only - if a child is posting inappropriate chat on there, they will be muted and not allowed to put anything on there.
We do want your child to post a message to their class teacher to say they have logged on successfully at home. They then can show you how it works (we are not experts yet!) and log off. Please notify your class teacher if you are unable to log on. Every child’s email account is disabled. We do not need them to use this option. Their username is their email account though! This will be a number, followed by their name and first letter of their surname and then everyone has the same end part. For example:
Some pupils do have a slight variation – most of the pupils do know their log ins.
Password: Stratton (capital S)
This will be changing for individuals very soon so your child will have their own password.
NB: You are only allowed to log on to your own account. We will be signing user agreements in the near future and this is one of the most important agreements.
English: This week, the children planned and wrote their own superhero stories based on the story of ‘Daring Dan’. They have focussed on using direct speech and learnt how to punctuate this correctly. Some children have continued using features such as adjectives and fronted adverbials.
Maths: This week, the children have been revising their understanding of the four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) by completing some Christmas-related tasks.
Design and Technology Project: This week, children have completed their Christmas decoration project. They each worked hard to create their electrical circuit and connect it to their frame. We hope you enjoy making these work over the holiday!
Accelerated Reader books: The children will not have received a new accelerated reader book this week. Instead, we will have given them a library book to take home to enjoy with you over the Christmas break. Some children will need support with reading this book as it will not be based on their zone. Please ensure they bring this back on the first day of the Spring term.
Reading: Please read at least 5 times a week and ensure this is recorded in your child’s yellow book. Your child can record this themselves.
Maths: Please continue to practise times tables on TTRS
Spellings: Please continue to practise common exception words at least three times a week.
