Hawthorn, Juniper and Ash Weekly Update – Friday 16th July
English: This week, some of the children started to learn about the Blanchminster Trust in preparation for writing thank you letters to this charity.
Maths: The Year 3 children revised the terms ‘perpendicular’ and ‘parallel’ this week and Year 4s learnt about coordinates and translating shapes.
Homework:
Here is a reminder of the homework we expect of your Year 3 or Year 4 child:
Reading: 5 times a week. Your child can record this themselves.
Maths: TTRS 3 times a week. 5 mins minimum.
Spellings: Common exception words 3 times a week.
AR books will not be replaced again next week. Once your child has quizzed on their current book, they will need to bring in a book from home to read in class.
Carrier bags: Next week, the children will be bringing home their books from this year and work from this term. We would like them to ensure that they have a bag that they can use for carrying these items in. Your child might already have a large rucksack, which would be appropriate, but you may wish to send them in with a carrier bag to use instead.
Forest School: Juniper and Hawthorn classes will be visiting the forest school on Tuesday next week and will need to wear appropriate clothing.
Bike Sessions:
Hawthorn: Tuesday
Juniper: Friday
Head lice: Head lice are a problem in Year 3 and 4. Please check your child’s hair and treat accordingly.
This will be our final weekly update for the year. Thank you for your support and we wish you a very happy and restful summer break!
Thank you,
Miss Willey, Mr Seldon & Mr Newberry
Work for Day 1 of isolation
This work is for the first day of absence. Please ensure this is completed. Your class teacher will be in contact about further work.
Hawthorn, Juniper and Ash Weekly Update
The whole Y3/4 team would like to thank you for all your continued support this term.
Google Classroom
We are now all using Google Classroom for remote learning. We are practising in classes and now need everyone to check they can log on. This can be accessed on ANY device as it is via the internet.
IMPORTANT - The account we are using is separate from ANY home google accounts. You will need to ‘add an account’ on your home login page and put in your child’s login. They will then see their classroom they belong to in school.
IMPORTANT – the stream (the first option at the top of the screen) is for education messages only - if a child is posting inappropriate chat on there, they will be muted and not allowed to put anything on there.
We do want your child to post a message to their class teacher to say they have logged on successfully at home. They then can show you how it works (we are not experts yet!) and log off. Please notify your class teacher if you are unable to log on. Every child’s email account is disabled. We do not need them to use this option. Their username is their email account though! This will be a number, followed by their name and first letter of their surname and then everyone has the same end part. For example:
16johns@stratton.cornwall.sch.uk
Some pupils do have a slight variation – most of the pupils do know their log ins.
Password: Stratton (capital S)
This will be changing for individuals very soon so your child will have their own password.
NB: You are only allowed to log on to your own account. We will be signing user agreements in the near future and this is one of the most important agreements.
PLEASE NOW ACCESS ALL WORK THROUGH GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Homework:
Reading: Please continue reading at least 5 times a week and quiz if you can.
There are more links and information on the School Library page.
Maths: Please continue to practise times tables on TTRS
Spellings: Please continue to practise common exception words at least three times a week.
Thank you,
Mr Newberry, Mr Seldon & Miss Willey
