Welcome to Year 5 and Year 6!
Our cohort is made up of three classes: Oak (with Mr Craig), Rowan (with Mrs Collidge & Mrs Hawkins) and Ash (with Miss Barriball).
This term, our topic is World War II, so we will be sketching and producing propaganda posters in art; looking at the main events of World War II in History; locating the major Axis and Allied nations in geography; creating Morse code machines in science and writing diaries, adventure stories and instructions in English. Of course, there will be much more on top of this!
We are really lucky this term to be receiving music tuition from Mrs Mann, who will be leading our ukulele sessions (see letter below). In PE this term, we are going to be developing and performing routines showing off our balance. We will also be improving our ball control in weekly hockey lessons.
The Year 5 children will be off to the Eden Project for a residential trip on Thursday the 19th September for one night. While there, they will be enjoying a workshop on World foods, exploring the site and touring the domes after the visitors have all left - see below for a kit list! Later in the term, we are planning a whole cohort trip down to Porthcurno, where the children will learn about telegraph and Morse code machines during the war, enjoying the wonderful beach (if the weather's nice!) and learning about the history of the area - particularly in relation to World War Two.
