Year 1 weekly update – Friday 2nd October

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, thank you to those of you who booked a parents evening appointment. It was lovely to be able to discuss the children’s progress and talk about all the wonderful things they have been doing in school!

This week in Science, we have been recording a daily weather diary and observing the changes in the weather each day. In Maths, the Year 1 children have been creating number sentences whilst the Year 2’s have been recapping their knowledge of the year so far. It was great to hear so many children are now engaging with NumBots at home. Thank you in your support with this as it significantly helps them with their learning at school.

Year 1 Hearing Test:

Next Friday, the Year 1 children have a hearing test. This is completed by NHS staff and you will get the results of the test in the following weeks after.

Key dates:

Halloween Disco - 22nd October

Last Day of Term - 23rd October

Half term – 26th - 3rd November

Back to School - 4th November

Snack:

In the morning, children should have a snack that is bought in from home. This should be a piece of fruit/vegetable. They will then have a school snack in the afternoon.

Homework and phonics:

The children will bring home a phonics book every Monday and Thursday. Please ensure these books are in their bookbags and these are bought into school every day. Children have now received a yellow reading log where you can record their reading at home. These will be checked every Friday. Inside the yellow reading log should also be your child’s NumBot login. Please help them access this and complete the challenges as frequently as possible.

Home time:

Please can we ask that adults wait in a line at the end of the day and wait for your children to be called. If you have collected another child from a different gate, please join the back of the line – we will dismiss the children as quickly as we can.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Miss Puckey, Mrs Aldridge, Mrs Hawkins and Mrs Martin
