Year 1 weekly update – Friday 11th September
Dear Parents/Carers,
First and foremost, welcome back! The children have settled into their new classes fantastically and have enjoyed getting to know their new teachers and peers. We have a few updates and reminders and as always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s class teacher.

Church Visits:
On Thursday 17th September, Year 1/2 will be attending Stratton Church as part of our RE unit. If you can help with this, please let your child’s class teach now. Thank you.
Aspen Class – 9:00 – 10:30
Pine Class – 10:00 – 11:30
Maple Class – 11:00 – 12:30
Snack:
In the morning, children should have a snack that is bought in from home. This should be a piece of fruit/vegetable. They will then have a school snack in the afternoon.
Homework and phonics:
This week, the children have started their regular phonics lessons. They will bring home a book every Monday and Thursday. Please ensure these books are in their bookbags and these are bought into school every day. Children have now received a yellow reading log where you can record their reading at home. These will be checked every Friday. We will explain the maths and spelling homework in the next few weeks.
Home time:
Please can we ask that adults wait in a line at the end of the day and wait for your children to be called. If you have collected another child from a different gate, please join the back of the line – we will dismiss the children as quickly as we can.
