Climbing sessions are used to help develop pupils’ self-esteem, teamwork and resilience, which has been proven to have a big impact upon academic progress. Children are not expected to be expert rock-climbers, nor even to have a head for heights. The activity is all about facing challenges and seeking strategies to help overcome them. Pupils will learn how to climb and belay others safely, to tie knots and to make progress up the wall. Year 4 children will be invited to take part for an allocated number of sessions.
