Year 1/2 weekly update – Friday 16th January
This week we have been reading the story ‘The Squirrels that Squabble’. In maths, Year 1 have been learning how to use a number line and how to find one more and one less; Year 2 have been continuing learning about addition and subtraction. In our computing lesson this week we have been using programmable robot cars called Indi cars, which has been a lot of fun!

Swimming:
Please remember that payments for our upcoming swimming lessons are now on the school gateway app. Please pay this promptly.
We will need more parent volunteers to support each class with walking to and from Splash during our swimming weeks. Please talk with your class teacher if you can help on any days.
Head lice:
There has been a case of headlice in Y1/2 this week. This happens very commonly in this age group. Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat as needed.
Willow class school council:
Willow class need to elect a new Year 1 school counsillor. The Year 1 children have been given manifestos to complete this weekend and return on Monday. The class will vote for their new Year 1 school councillor on Monday afternoon.
Homework:
Maths – Please complete NumBots for 5 minutes, 3 times each week.
Reading - Please read at home 5 times each week and record this in your reading log. Reading logs will be checked every Friday.
Spellings – Please play Little Birds spelling 3 times a week. Click on the following link to take you to the game https://ictgames.com/littleBirdSpelling/
Along the top where it says ‘Year’, select number 1 for Year 1 or 2 for Year 2. Please continue with the light purple house this week.
