Year 1/2 weekly update – Friday 10^th July

Our transition days have been really positive this week. We hope that all children are now feeling happy that they know their next teacher and classroom. If you have any questions, please ask us before the end of term.

Pine, Willow and Maple class have all now completed a lesson from the NSPCC thinking about ‘speak out, stay safe’ and the PANTS rule. Children have learnt the biological names for private body parts.

Next week we will be completing our final DT unit. We will be tasting a range of fruits and learning how to prepare fruit to make a fruit kebab. We are asking everyone to contribute £1.00 towards the cost of this activity please. The children will eat their fruit kebabs in school on the day that they make them. This will be added to the school gateway app for payment next week.

On Tuesday we will have a session on the bike track. If your child can confidently ride a bike, they are welcome to bring their bike and helmet to school. Children must have a secure fitting helmet to use the bike track. If your child isn’t yet confident on a bike, they will have time to run around the track and play on the field.

We will be sending children’s exercise books and belongings home on Thursday next week. Please send your child to school with a sturdy carrier bag to bring their things home in.

Our last day is on Friday 17^th July. We are looking forward to a fun filled final week together. There won’t be a class update next week so we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support this year and wish you all a happy summer holiday!

Homework:

Maths – Please complete NumBots for 5 minutes, 3 times each week. Year 2 can now move onto Times Table Rock Stars. The login for this is the same as their NumBots login.

Reading - Please read at home 5 times each week and record this in your reading log. Reading logs will be checked every Friday.

Spellings – no spellings this week.
